Sakina BELKASMI concluded her six years of training at the National School of Architecture in Rabat under the supervision of Professor Al Mountacir Bensaid, Director. She completed her graduation subject on theater architecture under the title “The Theater Space, an Architecture for a Place of Work, Art and Living”. BELKASMI’s choice of the subject is motivated both by her passion for the dramatic arts and by her conviction of the role theater plays in socio-cultural development. After obtaining her diploma in 2008, she joined BENLEMLIH & BELHAJ’s architecture agency. There she worked on major projects such as:
• The restoration of the Samir Hotel in Mohamedia.
• Residential complexs of first-rate apartments at Oued Cherrat & Béni Mellal. Project owner: ONAPAR.
• The relocation of equipment & restoration of military camps in Marrakech. Project owner: ALEM.
In 2009 she joined Taoufik EL OUFIR architecture agency as project manager. There she gained the knowledge, opportunity and confidence to steer big projects throughout their different stages. Working for that number one IS09001 certified architecture agency in Morocco, also enabled her to master the Projects Quality Management System and to collaborate with Taoufik EL OUFIR in big projects such as:
• Hotel and apartments. Rif Hotel at Nador. Project owner: SHN, a subsidiary of CDG Development.
• The headquarters of La Société Nationale de la Radio et Télévision in Rabat. Project owner: SNRT.
• A business Center at Casanearshore. Project owner: Casanearshore.
• First prize winner in a competition relating to the construction of the new headquarters of La Fondation de l’Office Chérifien des Phosphates in Rabat.
• A competition relating to the construction of an eco-sports city for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
• A competition relating to the construction of the new headquarters of the Istiqlal Party in Rabat.
Besides her professional career, Belkasmi attaches great importance to associative activities. In 2010 she was Secretary General of Carrefour Marocain des Jeunes pour la Modernité (CMIM). Joining profession to social commitment, she volunteered in designing architectural projects in partnership with La Fondation Marocaine des Jeunes pour l’Initiative et le Développement (MJID). In 2006 Belkasmi was a founding member of the 7th edition of l’Université du Printemps de l’Architecture. In 2003 she was a founding member of the 2nd World Youth Convention, held under the presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Currently, she is a member of Moroccan Women Mentoring/Networking.
